These is the Southern Highlands area around Hekla volcano and Landmannaulaugar (always Iceland....) Actually nobody livess here.
When first discovered in ancient times this crater was named "Ljottipollur" which means ugly pit. The colours come from the oxydation of minerals. Do you also find it ugly ? :-)
