On the left you see the Free Church Frikirkjan. It dates to around the turn of the 20th century and is part of the Lutheran church. It is made mostly of corrugated tin and wood, typical of Icelandic construction. Beside it, towering Hallgrimskirkja (74.5 m, 244 ft) ft), one of the tallest buildings in Iceland, named after the Icelandic poet and clergyman Hallgrímur Pétursson (1614 to 1674), author of the Passion Hymns.
