Voyage

In the village of Vik, South of Iceland, 300 inhabitants.

"Voyage" by Steinunn Thorarinsdottir,  is a work of art uniting Britain and Iceland with a sister sculpure in Kingston upon Hull.Both face out to sea.  They symbolize the bond created by more than a thousands years of sea trading between the two countries. A tribute to fishermen and other seafarers who have braved the perils of the sea, they are also a memorial to those whose lives have been claimed  by the waters of the North Atlantic.

The statue was commissioned 30 years after the ending of the cod war:-)
